ENG 237 CRN 16375: Women in Literature
 Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-1:45

This course fulfills BOTH the ERG and A/H Requirements for the AGEC.

During this class we explore strong female characters throughout literature as well as influential female authors.  We begin the semester with the myths of the Greek Goddesses and Snow White, and then we meet William Shakespeare’s Kate, Jane Austen’s Emma, and Toni Morrison’s Sula.  Along the way we also read essays by Virginia Woolf and Mary Wollstonecraft, poetry by Julia Alvarez, and a short story by Bharati Mukherjee.  We’ll view films such as Emma and clips from Once Upon a Time, Disney’s Snow White and other TV show and movies. We end the semester with an Author Luncheon where we eat, drink, and celebrate other student-chosen female authors.
